Engagement Ring Shopping… Suggestions? ?

January 31, 2010 · Filed Under Shopping Tips · 7 Comments

My boyfriend and I are planning on getting engaged this summer, and he’s recently started shopping for rings. He’s asked me what style I like… (stone, gold/platinum, etc.) and recently stated that he wants me to go with him to look. I’m super excited about everything, but the one thing that worries me is that I’ll pick out a ring that’s way too expensive for him. Personally, he could give me a ring out of a bubble gum box and I’d be happy… but he’s kind of worried that he’ll pick out something I don’t like. =) I’ve told him time and time again that if it’s from him, I’m going to love it… but it’s something I’ll have for the rest of my life and he’s pretty adamant about me going with him so he’ll have some visual ideas about what to get. So my question is what do I do if I accidentally show him a ring that’s way too much? We’re both in college; we’ll be done in 2010, but because of tuition, car payments and other various bills that I know he pays… I don’t want him to feel pressured into buying me something he can’t afford.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

If Aging Baby Boomers Are Such A Big Buying Block, Why Are Gadgets Being Made Smaller And Black?

January 30, 2010 · Filed Under Gadgets · 2 Comments

Many of us who are 50 and over don’t see as well as we used to, but gadgets have increasingly small texts and number pads. Black is the favored color – it blends in with everything and you can’t find things. What’s with manufacturers? Are bright-eyed teeny-boppers with skinny little finger tips really the biggest spenders, assuming that sales dollars steer product development?

How To Enter Into The Journalism Field With A Ma In Psychology Without Going Back To School?

January 27, 2010 · Filed Under Shopping Tips · 1 Comment

I am a licensed counselor and psychology instructor, but have always loved writing and have had an interest in journalism. I am interested in a career change, but don’t really want to go back to school for another degree, though am willing if that is what it takes. I was hoping someone could guide me in breaking into the journalism field by using the experience and education I already have. Any suggestions?
